Tom Hanks continues his reign as the nicest man in Hollywood…
The 63-year-old actor came to the aid of an eight-year-old Australian boy named Corona, who wrote to him after he and wife Rita Wilson contracted the COVID-19 virus a few months ago.
The eight-year-old sent his well wishes to Tom and Rita after news of their Coronavirus diagnosis went public, and also told the actor that was he was being bullied in school because of his name…
“I heard on the news you and your wife had caught the Coronavirus. Are you ok?” his letter began.
“I love my name but at school people call me the coronavirus. I get very sad and angry when people call me this.”
As expected from one of the nicest men in Hollywood, Tom Hanks issued a prompt reply.
Not only did 8-year-old Corona receive a reply from the actor, but he received a remarkable and potentially priceless gift too…
“Your letter made my wife and I feel so wonderful. Thank you for being such a good friend,” Tom Hanks wrote in his reply.
“Friends make their friends feel good when they are down.
“I thought this typewriter would suit you. I had taken it to the Gold Coast, and now, it is back—with you.
“Ask a grown up how it works. And use it to write me back. You’ve got a friend in me.”
We’re not crying, you’re crying!
Tom Hanks previously shared a picture of the Corona typewriter on Instagram five weeks ago, alongside an update on his and Rita’s health.
We sincerely hope that Corona uses the typewriter to reply to his A-list penpal.
We can’t wait to see and hopefully share more of their correspondence…
