Last month, we – along with the rest of the internet – were convinced that we knew which designer Meghan Markle had chosen to make her wedding dress when she marries Prince Harry on May 19.
Everyone seemed so confident that the bride-to-be would be wearing Alexander McQueen – so much so that bookmakers were forced to temporarily stop people betting on the brand. (This usually happens when there’s been a dramatic increase in betting in a short space of time, usually resulting from a leak or inside information.)
Fast forward one month, and the same seems to have happened for British couture label, Ralph & Russo.
“It looks as though Meghan’s made her mind up as far as her dress is concerned, so we’ve decided to pull the plug for the time being,” a spokesperson for Ladbrokes told The Daily Mail.
Very interesting. Australian designing duo Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo were always in the mix – alongside the likes of Alexander McQueen, Erdem, Roland Mouret and even Victoria Beckham – ever since Meghan Markle wore one of the brand’s stunning dresses in the official engagement photos.
Before betting was suspended, Ralph & Russo were frontrunners at 1/3, followed by Erdem at 3/1, Roland Mouret at 4/1, and Victoria Beckham at 6/1.
Obviously, Ralph & Russo aren’t giving anything away, which might just be indirectly giving it away if you see what we mean…
“We will be politely declining to comment on this topic,” said a spokesperson for the brand.
We only have a few more months to wait until we find out. Regardless of which designer Meghan Markle actually goes for, we’re confident that she will look sensational on her big day.
Hurry up, May 19!
