It may not be Lizzie McGuire (don’t even get us started!) but Hilary Duff is going to be on our small screens once again!
And the timing couldn’t be more perfect, as we will need something to fill the Younger hole in our lives now that we know the show is on its final season.
Hilary Duff has confirmed that she will be starring in a How I Met Your Mother spin-off, entitled – wait for it – How I Met Your Father. So Hilary Duff will be playing the new Ted Mosby, if you will…
HOMYF already looks like it’s in good hands, as it has the likes of Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger (of This Is Us and Love, Victor) as well as the original HIMYM creators, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, all working on it.
We know you’re dying to know more about Hilary Duff’s character, so here’s what we know so far…
“In the near future, Sophie is telling her son the story of how she met his father: a story that catapults us back to the year 2021 where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options,” reads the description from Hulu.
We are hooked already!
As well as playing the role of Sophie, Hilary Duff will also be producing the show, which has a straight-to-series order for 10 episodes at Hulu.
As predicted, Hilary is thrilled to be involved in the new project. As well as posting a video to her Instagram account which informed her fans about the show, she also released a statement that echoed her excitement…
“I’ve been incredibly lucky in my career to play some wonderful characters and I’m looking forward to taking on the role of Sophie,” she said in the statement.
“As a huge fan of How I Met Your Mother, I’m honored and even a little nervous that Carter and Craig would trust me with the sequel of their baby.
“Isaac and Elizabeth are brilliant, and I can’t wait to work alongside them and all of their genius.
“Just fangirling over here getting to join the Hulu Originals and 20th families. I realize these are big shoes to fill and I’m excited to slip my 6 ½’s in there!”
We cannot wait!
