It’s a joyous day for Britney Spears fans, as the 39-year-old singer is officially free!
Yes, the conservatorship that Britney Spears has been under for almost 14 years was finally lifted at a Los Angeles courthouse on Friday, November 12, meaning she is now free to make her own decisions about everything from her finances to her personal life. We couldn’t be happier for her!
The Womanizer singer shared footage of her loyal army of #FreeBritney supporters outside the courthouse on Friday on Twitter, writing: “Good God I love my fans so much it’s crazy !!! I think I’m gonna cry the rest of the day !!!! Best day ever … praise the Lord … can I get an Amen #FreedBritney.”
Brit’s fiancé Sam Asghari also documented the momentous occasion on Instagram, sharing a bright pink sign reading “FREEDOM” in big white letters.
He captioned his post: “History was made today. Britney is Free!” followed by a red heart emoji.
All parties involved in her conservatorship agreed with the judge’s decision to terminate it, including her parents Jamie and Lynne Spears, who both attended the hearing virtually.
Best of all, there was no need for Britney to undergo a psychiatric evaluation before the conservatorship was lifted, which we know she was very against doing.
While Britney is indeed free, and the judge ruled that the conservatorship “effective today” is “thereby terminated”, it was decided that an accountant serving as a temporary conservator should still retain some powers.
We guess that’s only minor considering the overall picture, which is that Britney Spears is FINALLY FREE!
