Following the terrifying drug overdose that almost killed her three months ago, Demi Lovato is reportedly on the mend and turning her life around.
According to her mother, Dianna De La Garza, Demi is now 90 days sober!
“She has 90 days and I couldn’t be more thankful or more proud of her, because addiction, being a disease, it is work,” Dianna explained to Maria Menounos on her Conversations with Maria Menounos podcast.
“It’s very hard, it’s not easy, and there are no shortcuts.”
When asked what led her daughter to relapse in the first place, Dianna De La Garza explained that she wasn’t really sure, although it could have been down to “a number” of different factors…
“It can be any number of reasons,” she explained.
“We lost five close members of our family in one year while I was writing the book, my grandfather, my grandmother, two uncles. We lost five people just in a span of a few months.
“You couldn’t say because we lost five people in our family that caused a relapse.”
Dianna told Maria Menounos that she believes her daughter fell into the wrong crowd and had the wrong people around her, as well as possibly feeling somewhat indestructible…
“I don’t think it was a particular incident,” she added.
“I also think that when you’re young and sometimes you think, maybe I can go do this and it won’t affect me, but with an addiction you just can’t do that. It’s a slippery slope.”
Whatever the reason, we’re just glad to hear that Demi Lovato has reached this milestone and hope her recovery continues!
